Agape Villages began its ministry in 1958 as Sierra Children’s Home and evolved into a network of regional group homes. In 1995 they moved to foster family care, changing their name to Agape Villages. Since 1958, they have served more than 6,000 of California’s most troubled youth. Agape Villages remains committed to the same principles that energized the agency’s founders: their values; providing the very highest level of professional services to disadvantaged children and their families; devotion to the people who choose to provide loving foster care for homeless and disadvantaged children to help recover and reshape their futures.

Braid Mission is a unique community of more than 150 active volunteers who gather weekly to surround foster youth with hope, presence, recreation, and community. These volunteers represent a variety of backgrounds, ages, and interests. More than half of Braid’s youth have been matched for two years or longer. In addition to intergenerational team mentoring, Braid also sends greeting cards to foster youth through the Cards of Hope program. Since its founding in 2014, Braid has educated and inspired thousands in the Bay Area and beyond with a message of hope, through outreach events, trainings, and collaborations with partner organizations like the Foster Youth Museum.
